School year 2023-2024
April 10 Garden Club is meeting on Wednesdays 2:30 – 3:15
Starting the week of June 9 – there will be a morning picked &
we hope to have gardeners join once a week to maintain the school garden
and mostly enjoy the garden with a bit of art/craft, plant and bug study.
I tried to have garden club through the winter and early spring to do little
projects on early release Fridays – not a fan of Fridays.
We’ll see what the 2024 fall harvesting season brings for gardening after school.

Wow! the interest in gardening and worms is overwhelming. We’ve got kiddos just interested in digging and it does make it harder to plant. Plus, again we had another handful of newbies so of course they had to play in the dirt and find worms.
We had seed planters – the salad bed; carrots, radishes, greens. In the potato bed, a variety of potatoes were planted and dug up and planted again – some kiddos were moved to the bed with nothing planted yet so they could dig up worms. 🤣

April 17 –
Still loosening the dirt up the beds, pulling sunflower sprouts out, of course playing with worms, planted carrots, made a potato trench, planted herbs and wildflower mix, drilled holes in buckets for worm farms, and had fun!

April 10 –
Garden chores . . .added manure, played with worms, transplanted some flowers, and ate sunflower starts.

April 8 –
Posted through school announcements and newsletter . . .

Looking forward to another gardening year. Made plans with students and Penny. Then the following week me started making seed tape – radishes and carrots. Unfortunately I forgot to take pics when the group was there so here’s the best Thora and I did quickly after everyone left
